Ampere (A) is the unit of measurement for electrical current strength, in other words, it indicates how powerful the current is. One ampere corresponds to the number of electrons passing through a cross-section of a conductor during a given period of time. For example, a lamp at your home typically has a current strength of 0.5 amperes, while a stove has 30 amperes or more.
